Community invited to Town Hall meeting regarding Missile Site 3
Town Hall meeting to be held October 25 for all community members within the local area of the Atlas "D" missile site 3 to discuss efforts by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers made relating to the ongoing environmental studies and restoration activities at the former Atlas "D" Missile Site 3.

Contract awarded for project in Nemaha County, NE
Western Contracting Corporation of Sioux City, Iowa, has been awarded a $1,868,600 construction contract for work in Nemaha County, Nebraska. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District awarded the contract for the Langdon Bend top width widening project.

Draft EA for levee repairs near Langdon, MO available for public comment
A draft environmental assessment for repairs to Missouri River levee unit L-550 near Langdon in Atchison County, Missouri is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing damage along a drainage ditch between L-550 and Rock Creek caused by high precipitation events. Repairs are needed to prevent seepage of levee foundation material from L-550 into the drainage ditch. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than October 27, 2016.

A one-lane road closure on U.S. Highway 83 crossing Lake Audubon in North Dakota will begin September 27 to allow paving and the fall drawdown of Lake Audubon.

Vegetation control to begin on Mo. River sandbars between Garrison Dam and Lake Oahe headwaters, N.D.
During the last week of September and early October, the Corps will conduct vegetation management activities on sandbars in the Mo. River between Garrison Dam and the Hazelton Boat Ramp on Lake Oahe (river miles 1381 to 1278).

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers grants Special Use Permit to Standing Rock Sioux Tribe
Today the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) issued a Special Use Permit to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe to use Federal lands managed by the Corps near Lake Oahe. Omaha District Commander, Col. John W. Henderson, informed Standing Rock Sioux Tribal Chairman Dave Archambault II, that the Tribe’s Spiritual gathering, located south of the Cannonball River, has been granted a Special Use Permit, which allows the Tribe to gather to engage in a lawful free speech demonstration on Federal lands designated in the permit.

Public meeting scheduled on Randolph, Nebraska flood risk management feasibility study
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the city of Randolph, will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 5:30-8p.m. at the City Auditorium, 119 North Main Street in Randolph, Nebraska. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update on a flood risk management study and gather input on the draft feasibility report and integrated environmental assessment. Comments on the draft report must be received or postmarked by October 12, 2016.

Vegetation control set for Missouri River sandbars between Pickstown, SD and Ponca, NE
During September, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct vegetation management activities on sandbars in the Missouri River between Pickstown, SD and Ponca, NE. Approximately 1,500 acres have been identified for treatment in 2016 by a team of federal and state representatives. This work is being done to keep the sandbars free of vegetation and usable by the endangered interior least tern and threatened piping plover for nesting.

Public meeting scheduled on Cottonwood Springs Lake and Cold Brook Lake draft Master Plan
The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a brief presentation at 6:15 p.m. at the Mueller Civic Center Annex room, 801 South 6th Street, Hot Springs, South Dakota 57747. The purpose of the meeting is to gather input on the Draft Master Plan revision and associated environmental assessment.
