  • Public meeting scheduled for the South Platte River Section 1135 ecosystem restoration study in Denver, Colorado

    A public meeting to share details about the South Platte River Section 1135 ecosystem restoration study being conducted in partnership with the City and County of Denver and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District will be held from 5:30-7:30 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at the Fleming Mansion, 1510 S. Grant Street in Denver, Colorado.
  • Big Bend Master Plan Meeting Cancelled Due to Weather

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is canceling the Big Bend Master Plan public meeting that had been scheduled for February 23, 2017, due to projected winter weather conditions around the Fort Thompson/Chamberlain, South Dakota, area. The Corps plans on hosting a rescheduled meeting in early March; additional information will be posted when details have been solidified. The comment period has been extended to March 27, 2017.
  • Joint assessment of protest camps takes place

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers conducted a joint assessment today of the protest camps along the Cannonball River with camp leaders, a contractor, and camp members to survey the clean-up progress to date. In their determination, while there has been significant effort by current operations, it is not on pace to ensure the land is restored to a pre-protest state before potential flooding.
  • Raptor programs still on, but eagle a no show for Bald Eagle Days.

    For the second year there will be no eagle at Bald Eagle Days at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center near Yankton, SD. Programs scheduled for Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19 will go on with other birds of prey.

    In celebration of National Engineers Week, the Omaha District, in conjunction with the Society of American Military Engineers, is hosting an informational panel at the University of Nebraska - Omaha Campus.

  • Corps closes federal property adjacent to Cannonball River for safety, environmental concerns

    The Corps issued notices today informing protestors of the closure of Corps-managed federal property adjacent to the Cannonball River. Safety is the number one priority for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and therefore the Corps will close federal property in the floodplain located at the mouth of the Cannonball River on February 22, 2017, to prevent injuries and significant environmental damage in the likely event of flooding in this area.
  • Public scoping meeting scheduled for Big Bend Master Plan

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public scoping meeting on Thursday, February 23, 2017 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Big Bend Project Office, 33573 N Shore Road, Fort Thompson, South Dakota 57325 to gather input on the development of the Big Bend Master plan and the associated Environmental Assessment. Comments must be postmarked or received by March 13, 2017.
  • Bald Eagle Days rescheduled for February 17-19

    Bald Eagle Days, a free public event sponsored by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center near Yankton, SD, has been rescheduled to Friday, February 17 through Sunday, February 19.
  • Additional gages to provide water level data

    Two rapid-deployable, mobile stream-gages will provide short-term water level data in critical areas along the Cannon Ball River, south of Bismarck, North Dakota.
