  • Lake Yankton water level to be drawn down

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces the immediate draw down of the water level by one foot in Lake Yankton, located downstream of Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota.
  • Comments sought on watercraft inspection program

    A draft integrated letter report and programmatic environmental assessment has been developed to determine the economic and environmental impacts of Federal participation in state-managed watercraft inspection programs along the South Platte River Basin in Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska. Public comments on the draft EA will be accepted until Jan. 1, 2021.
  • Corps of Engineers to begin maintenance on Salt Creek Dams’ plunge pools

    LINCOLN, Neb.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that it will begin maintenance on the downstream conduit outlet plunge pools Jan. 4, 2021 at the following Salt Creek Dam sites: 8, Wagon Train; 9, Stagecoach; 10, Yankee Hill; 12, Conestoga; and 13, Twin Lakes.
  • Corps of Engineers, Garrison Project announces winter access policy, entry points

    RIVERDALE, N.D. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Garrison Project announces their 2020-2021 winter access policy. This year there will be 113 entry points to Lake Sakakawea and 20 entry points to Lake Audubon. These entry points are a combination of boat ramps, shoreline access sites and freeways which are in limited development areas. A couple of these points are foot traffic only due to terrain.
  • Public scoping period to begin for Gavins Point Dam, Lewis and Clark Lake master plan update; virtual public meeting scheduled

    OMAHA, Neb. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District will be hosting a virtual public scoping meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will kick off the public scoping and comment period for the update and revision of the Gavins Point Dam, Lewis and Clark Lake master plan.
  • Crest Road closed Tuesday, Dec. 1 for maintenance

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Gavins Point Dam announced that the road that crosses the dam near Yankton, S.D., also known as Crest Road, will be closed Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for maintenance. People are asked to take alternate routes during the closure.

  • Portion of spillway parking area closed during fiber optic replacement

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District has announced that a portion of the parking area on the north side of the Gavins Point Dam spillway, near Yankton, S.D., will be closed beginning Monday, Nov. 30. Vehicles and pedestrians will be prohibited in the area during the closure.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, in partnership with the city of Randolph and the Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District, will begin construction of a flood risk management project along Middle Logan Creek in Randolph and is marking the occasion with a groundbreaking ceremony on Friday, November 6th starting at 11:00 a.m.
  • Scoping comment period extended for Dakota Access Pipeline Environmental Impact Statement

    OMAHA, Neb. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District is extending the public scoping comment period for the Dakota Access Pipeline Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to Nov. 26, 2020. The purpose of the scoping period is to gather input on evaluating the impacts of granting an easement to Dakota Access, LLC to cross Corps-administered federal land at the Oahe Dam and Reservoir Project on the Missouri River.
