Draft EA for Pick City, North Dakota wastewater treatment facility improvements available for comment

A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to improve the existing wastewater treatment facility for Pick City, North Dakota is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of expanding two existing treatment cells and constructing a third treatment cell in order to increase the overall storage and treatment capacity of the facility. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than April 17, 2018.

Final input sought on Deadmans Run flood risk study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (NRD) and the City of Lincoln, will hold an open house on Wednesday, March 28, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Nebraska Educational Telecommunications (NET) Center, 1800 N. 33rd Street in Lincoln. Comments from area residents, businesses and other interested parties are being sought on the draft feasibility report for the Deadmans Run flood risk management study. There will be a brief, formal presentation at 5:30 p.m.

Draft EA for modifications to Missouri River, Papillion Creek and Platte River federal levees in Sarpy County, Nebraska available for public comment

A draft Environmental Assessment for modifications of two levee systems located in Sarpy County, Nebraska, owned and operated by the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District, is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of modifying the levees to meet FEMA certification and accreditation standards and continue eligibility in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ PL 84-99 Program. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than April 6, 2018.

Corps seeks comments on draft feasibility report/environmental assessment for ecosystem restoration study in Sheridan, Wyoming

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is seeking comments on the recently released draft feasibility report and integrated environmental assessment which outlines a proposed plan to restore approximately three miles of degraded ecosystem along the Little Goose Creek, Big Goose Creek, and Goose Creek in Sheridan, Wyoming. The plan includes in-stream structures to improve cold water fishery habitat, stream modifications to increase fish passage and restoration of wetland habitat adjacent to the creeks. Comments must be postmarked or received by March 12, 2018.

A draft supplemental environmental assessment to evaluate impacts of reclassifying land use of approximately 109 acres at the Garrison Project in North Dakota is currently available for public review. Management Unit 100, also known as Dakota Hills Christian Camp (Camp Cherith), would be reclassified from Recreation to Multiple Resource Management – Low Density Recreation. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than February 20, 2018.

Public meeting scheduled for proposed Missouri River Emergent Sandbar Habitat project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ramada Bismarck Hotel (West Heritage Room), 1400 E. Interchange Ave. in Bismarck, North Dakota, to gather input on site selection for an Emergent Sandbar Habitat (ESH) Project within the Missouri River between Garrison and Oahe dams in North Dakota.

A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to replace the existing wastewater treatment facility for Dakota City, Nebraska is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of constructing a new facility along with an associated outfall structure adjacent to the west bank of the Missouri River between river miles 724.75 and 724.25. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than Jan. 10, 2018.

Popo Agie River flood risk alternatives to be discussed at public meeting in Lander, Wyoming

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the City of Lander, will hold an open house on Tuesday, Dec. 19, from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Community and Convention Center, 950 Buena Vista Drive in Lander to gather public input on preliminary alternatives currently being evaluated to reduce flood risk and improve public safety along the Popo Agie River and Dickinson Creek in Lander, Wyoming. A formal presentation will be given at 6 p.m. followed by the open house.
