Comments sought on Draft Environmental Assessment for PL 84-99 Levee Certification, Greybull, Wyoming
A draft Environmental Assessment has been prepared by Amec Foster Wheeler, Environmental & Infrastructure, Inc. for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to determine if any environmental impacts would be caused by a proposed project to bring the town of Greybull Levee System into compliance with 44 CFR § 65.10 of the National Flood Insurance Program criteria for levee certification. The Greybull Levee System includes two project areas, the Dry Creek right bank levee and the Big Horn River left bank levee. Comments on the draft EA must be postmarked or received no later than August 8, 2016.

Public input sought on proposed list for expediting routine alterations at District civil works projects
Several draft programmatic environmental assessments for developing categorical permissions under Title 33, U.S. Code 408 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 are currently available for public review. Each draft programmatic EA evaluates the environmental impacts of allowing certain routine alterations to be permitted at federally-constructed civil works projects within the Omaha District’s civil works boundary (Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska and Iowa). Comments must be postmarked or received no later than August 1, 2016.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) will hold a public meeting on the draft project implementation report (PIR) with integrated environmental assessment (EA) for the Langdon Bend Interception and Rearing Complex Habitat Project in Nemaha County.

Public comment period for Draft Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam EIS extended
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will extend the public comment period for the draft Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) from July 18, 2016 to July 28, 2016. The Draft EIS analyzes and discloses potential effects associated with the proposed Federal action to improve passage for endangered pallid sturgeon and other native fish at Intake Diversion Dam in the Lower Yellowstone River while continuing the effective and viable operation of the Lower Yellowstone Project.

Draft PIR for Langdon Bend available for review
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has released a draft project implementation report (PIR) with integrated environmental assessment (EA) for the Langdon Bend Interception and Rearing Complex Habitat Project in Nemaha County and will schedule a public meeting in July to solicit comments on the project. Comments on the draft PIR/EA must be postmarked or received by July 20, 2016.

A third public meeting has been scheduled to solicit comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project. The draft EIS analyzes potential effects associated with the proposed action to improve fish passage for pallid sturgeon and other native fish at the Intake Diversion Dam, continue the viable and effective operation of the Lower Yellowstone Project, and contribute to ecosystem restoration. Comments sought on draft EA for project along Indian Creek in Council Bluffs, IA
An environmental assessment for interstate bridge and roadway improvements over Indian Creek in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is currently available for public review. The EA evaluates the impacts of removing the existing Interstate 80/Interstate 29 bridge over Indian Creek and constructing new bridges with associated road improvements. The project is located approximately three miles upstream of the confluence of Indian Creek with the Missouri River. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than June 24, 2016.

No decision yet regarding water crossings for Dakota Access Pipeline
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has not issued a decision in response to Dakota Access, LLC’s application for permits and permissions to construct and operate the Dakota Access Pipeline Project. The applicant has requested that USACE issue permits under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 for water body crossings, as well as provide the permission required by Section 14 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, codified at 33 U.S.C. 408 (Section 408).

Monroe, NE, draft stream bank restoration report available for review
A draft feasibility report and environmental assessment (EA) for stream bank restoration near Monroe, Nebraska. is currently available for public review. The report identifies alternatives to provide stream bank protection and prohibit further rapid erosion on the right-descending bank of the Loup River, Platte County, Neb. Public infrastructure being protected includes the 370th Avenue county road bridge and road approach located south of Monroe. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than April 1, 2016.
