Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed from 8 a.m. Monday, June 2 through noon Friday, June 6. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.

Boaters and swimmers reminded to wear life jackets
Before you head out for a day on or near the water, you're encourage to make sure you have life jackets for everyone and that they please wear them. On average, 9 out of 10 people who drowned at a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake or river project didn’t wear a life jacket. Life jackets save lives by keeping you afloat and providing time for rescue.

Gavins Point spillway road closed May 5-9
The road crossing Gavins Point Dam, near Yankton, S.D., also known as Crest Road or the spillway road, will be closed from 8 a.m. Monday, May 5 through 5 p.m. Friday May 9 while crews conduct spillway maintenance. The closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.

Flood repair work on Gavins Point Spillway near Yankton, S.D. will cause one lane of the spillway road to be closed into the fall.

Gavins Point releases will divert to spillway beginning March 26
Due to maintenance and repairs at the Gavins Point Dam power plant, water releases, which normally run through the powerhouse, will be diverted to the spillway beginning Wednesday, March 26. "We are releasing the same amount of water that we normally would. The difference is, it will be more visible to the public because we will be using the spillway instead of the powerhouse," said Dave Becker, Operations Project Manager for Gavins Point.

The Lewis and Clark Visitor Center near Yankton, S.D. will be closed the following days: Friday, Feb. 28, Thursday, Mar. 6 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m., and Tuesday and Wednesday, March 18 and 19.
