  • Vegetation control set for Missouri River sandbars between Pickstown, SD and Ponca, NE

    During September, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct vegetation management activities on sandbars in the Missouri River between Pickstown, SD and Ponca, NE. Approximately 1,500 acres have been identified for treatment in 2016 by a team of federal and state representatives. This work is being done to keep the sandbars free of vegetation and usable by the endangered interior least tern and threatened piping plover for nesting.
  • Gavins Point Dam crest road closure changed to August 23-26

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 through 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 to repave the roadway. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.
  • Gavins Point power plant tours cancelled Aug. 19 - Sept. 2

    Tours of the Gavins Point power plant will not be offered from Friday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Sept. 2. Tours will resume in time for Labor Day weekend.
  • Gavins Point Dam crest road to close next week

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam will be closed August 15-24 for repaving. Traffic will be allowed across the dam via the toe road and ramp road August 15-22. All roads across the dam will be closed to traffic August 23 and 24.
  • Hunters reminded of tree stand requirements at the Gavins Point Project

    Hunters are reminded of tree stand requirements on U. S. Army Corps of Engineers lands, located in Yankton and Clay counties in South Dakota and Knox and Cedar counties in Nebraska. Portable tree stands are permitted, and may remain on project lands from August 15 through February 15 each year.

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, 2016 through 4 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2016. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D. will be closed from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 13 through 3 p.m. Friday July 15, 2016 to conduct maintenance.
  • Duck Blind Permits for Lewis and Clark Lake accepted through August 17 for 2016 Season

    The 2016-17 Gavins Point Project Duck Blind Permit Applications are available for viewing online or in-person at the Lewis and Clark Visitor Center, located near Gavins Point Dam. Applications will be accepted at the Gavins Point Project Office or Lewis and Clark Visitor Center until Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
  • Gavins Point Dam road closed July 5

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam will be closed from 8:00 a.m. through 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5th, 2016 to conduct maintenance.
  • Gavins Point Dam announces 2016 powerplant tour schedule

    Public tours of the powerplant at Gavins Point Dam are set to begin June 10. Tours will not be available over Memorial Day weekend. Starting June 10, tours will be offered Friday, Saturday, Sunday and holidays at 9, 10 & 11 a.m. and 1, 2, 3 & 4 p.m.
