Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed 8 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015 through 5 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.

The Lake Yankton Water Festival is set for Saturday, June 20 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Training Dike Recreation area near Yankton, SD. The event will have games, prizes, crafts, demonstrations, and a paddling clinic.

"Play it safe" at USACE Lakes

The warmer temperatures are bringing more visitors to recreation areas across the Omaha District. Park Rangers from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are reminding visitors to have life jackets for everyone and please wear them. On average, 9 out of 10 people who drowned at a USACE lake or river project didn’t wear a life jacket. Life jackets save lives by keeping you afloat and providing time for rescue.

Spillway gate repair to restart for season at Gavins Point Dam

Repairs to the spillway gates at Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD are set to continue Monday, March 23. The repairs, which began in 2014, include the inspection, repair, and painting of the 14 gates. The crest road that crosses the Gavins Point dam will experience periodic road and lane closures through the duration of construction.
