  • Spillway gate repairs mean more road closures at Gavins Point Dam

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam will be closed from 8 a.m. Monday, August 11 through 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 15. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time. The closure is a result of the inspection, repair and painting of the spillway gates at Gavins Point Dam. There will be periodic closures throughout duration of the construction, which will continue into the fall.
  • Draft environmental assessment for modifications to Missouri River structures available for review

    A draft environmental assessment for the modification of 73 existing dike structures along the Missouri River is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of modifying the structures to create the physical conditions necessary to maximize the amount of shallow water habitat at each of the notched dikes.
  • Draft Environmental Assessment for Lake Yankton Fish Population Renovation Project, Neb., S.D., available for public review

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposed fish population rehabilitation project at Lake Yankton is currently available for public review. In recent years Lake Yankton has become dominated by “rough” fish species including Asian carp that are considered detrimental to the recreational fishery. The goal of the proposed project is to re-establish the recreational fishery by allowing for the establishment of a desirable game fish population.
  • Draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to Upper Hamburg chute available for public review

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to the Upper Hamburg chute in Otoe County, Neb. is currently available for public review. The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing chute bank erosion that formed along two locations during the 2011 Missouri River flood. The purpose and scope of this supplemental EA are limited to evaluating the potential environmental effects of the proposed operation and maintenance chute repair actions.
  • Public comments sought on draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to Council Bend chute

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to the Council Bend chute in Pottawattamie County, Iowa is currently available for public review. The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing a chute scour hole that formed along the southern bank during the 2011 Missouri River flood. The purpose and scope of this supplemental EA are limited to evaluating the potential environmental effects of the proposed operation and maintenance chute repair actions.
  • Public comment sought on shallow water habitat project at Middle Decatur Bend, Burt County, Neb.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the Decatur City Auditorium, 913 S. Broadway St., Decatur, Neb. from 6 to 8:00 p. m. to seek comment on a proposed shallow water habitat construction project at Middle Decatur Bend in Burt County, Neb.
  • Another closure scheduled for Gavins Point Dam Crest Road

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 23 through 5 p.m. Friday, July 25. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.
  • Draft master plan update for Fort Randall Dam/Lake Francis Case available for public review

    The draft master plan update for Fort Randall Dam/Lake Francis Case is currently available for public review. The master plan provides guidance for the management and development of natural and manmade resources at the Fort Randall Dam/Lake Francis Case project including public use, environmentally sensitive areas and cultural resources within the project’s boundaries.
  • Another closure scheduled for Gavins Point Dam Crest Road

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam will be closed from 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 16 through 5 p.m. Thursday, July 17. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time. The closure is a result of the inspection, repair and painting of the spillway gates. Periodic closures will continue throughout the duration of construction, which will continue into the fall.
  • Tours of Gavins Point power plant canceled due to construction

    Tours at the Gavins Point power plant, near Yankton, S.D., are cancedled through the remainder of 2014 due to construction.
