  • Omaha District welcomes new commander

    OMAHA, Neb. (July 8, 2020) - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District welcomed its 36th commander today during a change of command ceremony at its downtown headquarters while following recommended CDC COVID-19 safety guidelines.
  • No thru traffic on Crest Road July 9

    The spillway and powerplant road across Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will be closed from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, for maintenance. This will prohibit thru traffic on the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam, also known as Crest Road. People are asked to take alternate routes during the closure.
  • Omaha District Corps change of command ceremony scheduled

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District will be hosting a change of command ceremony Wednesday at 10 a.m. to welcome the district’s new incoming commander, Col. Mark R. Himes and bid farewell to the outgoing commander, Col. John L. Hudson.

    The spillway and powerplant roadway at Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will be closed Wedensday from 8 a.m. to noon for maintenance. This will prohibit through traffic on the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam, also known as the Crest Road.

    The Santee boat ramp, near Santee, Nebraska, will reopen Friday.
  • Crest Road closing Tuesday

    The road that crosses Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, also known as Crest Road, will be closed Tuesday, May 5 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. for road maintenance. People are asked to plan on taking alternate routes during the closure.
  • Corps of Engineers opens multi-use recreation areas

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced day-use and multi-purpose recreation areas around Fort Peck Lake will open May 1 to normal activities, following physical distancing and group limitations to reduce spread of COVID-19.
  • Corps closes two more breaches on Missouri River Levee System L-594

    Two outlet breaches on the Missouri River Levee System L-594 were closed on Saturday. These are the third and fourth breaches to be closed on the L-594 system, providing an initial level of flood risk management to the area behind this downstream portion of the levee, located west of Thurman, Iowa. The USACE team and Contractor will continue finalizing repairs at these breach locations while also focusing on the one remaining outlet breach.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, closed three breaches along Missouri River Levee System L-550, located near Missouri River Miles 524 and 525 southeast of Rock Port, Missouri, over the weekend.
