  • Moffat Project Final EIS to be released

    April 25, 2014 set for the release of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Denver Water’s Moffat Collection System Project. At this time the public will have an opportunity to review and comment on the Final EIS, which will in turn be considered prior to final decision-making by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers.

  • Draft Environmental Impact Statement to be prepared for Cherry Creek Dam, Aurora, Colo.

    A draft Environmental Impact Statement will be prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to address environmental issues related to remediation alternatives that will be proposed at the conclusion of a Dam Safety Modification Study for the Cherry Creek Dam in Aurora, Colo. Public scoping meetings will be held in 2014 within the local Cherry Creek Dam project area to present information regarding the array of remediation alternatives that may be addressed in the draft EIS, receive public comments, and solicit input regarding dam safety issues, additional remediation alternatives to consider, and other environmental issues of concern to the public.

    A draft environmental assessment for the control of saltcedar and Russian olive at the Fort Peck Reservoir, Mont. is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of controlling the spread of these noxious weeds through aerial application of aquatically-approved herbicides for large infestations and the use of foliar, cut-stump and basal bark application methods for small areas of infestation.

  • Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment for proposed modification at Kansas and Nishnabotna Bends in Neb. available for public review

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment for a proposed modification at the Kansas and Nishnabotna Bends in Nemaha and Otoe counties, Neb. is currently available for public review. The purpose of the supplemental action is to provide protection to Levee Unit R-562 by diverting overland flows from Kansas Bend away from the toe of the levee unit while allowing for continued operation of the mitigation project.

  • Draft Environmental Assessment for land exchange at Garrison Dam/Lake Sakakawea Project available for public review

    A draft environmental assessment for the exchange of federal and private lands at Garrison Dam/Lake Sakakawea Project in N.D. is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the effects of exchanging 11.4 acres of land owned by the Corps and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with 5.9 acres currently owned by a private land owner.

  • Draft Environmental Assessment for sand removal project at Snyder Bend available for public review

    A draft environmental assessment for sand removal at Snyder Bend in Woodbury County, Iowa is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of restoring Snyder Bend’s wetlands back to their pre-2011 flood condition.

  • Public comment sought on Draft Environmental Assessment for repairs to Main Ditch 6 levee, Hamburg, Iowa

    A draft environmental assessment for Public Law 84-99 levee rehabilitation construction at the Main Ditch 6 levee near Hamburg, Iowa is currently available for public review. Rehabilitation construction will consist of in-line repairs to bring the levee back to pre-flood conditions.

  • Draft feasibility report for stream bank restoration near Scribner, Neb. available for review

    A draft feasibility report and environmental assessment for stream bank restoration near Scribner, Neb. is currently available for public review. The report identifies alternatives to provide stream bank protection to prohibit rapid erosion on the east bank of the Elkhorn River, Dodge County, Neb. Public infrastructure being protected includes County Road F and the bridge.

  • Public review begins for Middle Decatur Bend shallow water habitat project

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment for the restoration of shallow water habitat at Middle Decatur Bend in Burt County, Neb., is currently available for public review. The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of restoring the connection between Middle Decatur’s backwater lake and the Missouri River.

  • Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation Reports available for public review

    The Final Feasibility Study / Environmental Impact Statement for the Chatfield Reservoir Storage Reallocation, Littleton, Colo. is available for review. The final report identifies and compares four main alternatives and outlines in detail the preferred alternative for reallocating storage space in the Chatfield Reservoir for joint flood control- conservation purposes, including storage for municipal and industrial water supply, agriculture, environmental restoration and recreation and fishery habitat protection and enhancement.
