  • Contract awarded to build shallow water habitat at Middle Decatur Bend, Burt Co., NE

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract to Commercial Contractors Equipment, Inc., of Lincoln, Neb. for $1,747,090 to construct shallow water habitat at Middle Decatur Bend in Burt County, Neb. The project will be constructed on land owned by the Corps, and will result in the creation of 11 acres of shallow water habitat that is intended to benefit the federally endangered pallid sturgeon and other native fish and wildlife species.
  • Maintenance project to begin at Cherry Creek Dam near Denver

    Work will begin in late December to install a 2,200-foot-long underground outfall pipe system for 14 relief wells that were installed along the downstream toe of the dam in 2012. The new relief well system is designed to relieve seepage pressure under the dam that could develop during extremely high reservoir elevation levels. The system replaces an existing well system that is more than 65 years old.
  • Contract awarded for chute repairs at Middle Decatur Bend, Burt County, Neb. and backwater repairs at Hole-in-the-Rock, Thurston County, Neb.

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract to Newt Marine Service of Dubuque, Iowa for $972,142.25 for repairs to existing chute and backwater projects at Middle Decatur Bend near Decatur in Burt County, Neb. and Hole-in-the-Rock located on the Omaha Indian Reservation north of Macy in Thurston County, Neb. The proposed projects will repair damages to existing shallow water habitat features caused by the 2011 Missouri River Flood.
  • Contract awarded for shallow water habitat project at Indian Cave State Park, Richardson County, Neb.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a contract to construct a shallow water habitat backwater project at the Indian Cave State Park in Richardson County, Neb. The Corps worked closely with the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission while designing the backwater to ensure the project accomplished Missouri River Recovery Program goals while adding a feature to the Indian Cave State Park the public could enjoy.
  • Contract awarded for shallow water habitat project at Middle Decatur Bend, Burt County, Neb.

    An $895,000 contract has been awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to Western Contracting of Sioux City, Iowa for the restoration of a backwater at Middle Decatur Bend in Burt County, Neb. The proposed project will restore the connection between Middle Decatur’s backwater lake and the Missouri River. The backwater serves as shallow water habitat which provides feeding, spawning, and rearing habitat for native fish and other aquatic species.
  • Contract awarded for shallow water habitat project at Glovers Point Bend, Thurston County, Neb.

    A $3.56 million contract has been awarded by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to Newt Marine Service of Dubuque, Iowa, for the construction of a backwater at Glovers Point Bend in Thurston County, Neb. The proposed project will be constructed on land owned by the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and will result in the creation of 55 acres of shallow water habitat that is intended to benefit the federally endangered pallid sturgeon and other native fish and wildlife species.
  • Cherry Creek Dam to get 12 new groundwater observation wells

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, awarded a $370,700 contract to Shannon and Wilson, Inc., Geotechnical and Environmental Consultants, of St. Louis, Mo., to install new dam safety instrumentation at Cherry Creek Dam in Arapahoe County, Colorado.
  • Corps awards contract for dam safety maintenance work at Cherry Creek Dam

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, awarded a construction contract Sept. 30, 2010 to American West Construction LLC of Denver, Colo., to perform dam safety maintenance work at Cherry Creek Dam in Arapahoe County, Colo. Work on Cherry Creek Dam is scheduled to begin in December and expected to continue through May 2011.
