New relief wells to be installed at Cherry Creek
The Drill Crew Unit of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, will be performing drilling work at Cherry Creek Dam in Arapahoe County, Colorado over the next four to five weeks. The Corps will install 12 to 14 new relief wells immediately downstream of the dam embankment adjacent to Interstate 225.

Corps to hold Fort Peck Spillway test first week in September
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, is set to conduct a flow test of the Fort Peck Spillway in Montana during the week of Sept. 4. The test will help engineers to determine whether a subdrain system that relieves potential pressure beneath the spillway is functioning properly.

Corps to drawdown Bowman-Haley Reservoir for maintenance
The Omaha District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will draw down Bowman-Haley Reservoir approximately 2.4 feet to pool elevation 2747.5 feet for maintenance on the reservoir gates. Releases will be initiated on Aug. 22 with the maintenance scheduled to begin the week of Sept. 10. Bowman-Haley Reservoir is located about 15 miles southeast of Bowman, N.D., in Bowman County.

Corps seeks public comment on Draft Surplus Water Reports, Environmental Assessments
A report has been developed and released for public comment for each of the following mainstem reservoirs: Fort Peck Dam/Fort Peck Lake, Mont.; Oahe Dam/ Lake Oahe, S.D., Big Bend Dam/Lake Sharpe, S.D.; Fort Randall Dam/Lake Francis Case, S.D.; and Gavins Point Dam/Lewis and Clark Lake, S.D. The draft reports identify and quantify surplus water availability at each of the locations.

Corps to hold Fort Peck Spillway test in September
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, is providing 30-day notice that it will conduct a flow test of the Fort Peck Spillway in Montana during the week of Sept. 4. The test will help engineers determine whether a subdrain system that relieves potential pressure beneath the spillway is functioning properly. Set to begin the morning of Sept. 4, the test will consist of spillway releases of 3,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) up to 30,000 cfs at periodic intervals over a four-day timeframe.

Public Meeting Scheduled for Audubon Bend Conceptual Site Plan Development
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Holy Family Parish (Sacred Heart Hall), 807 Emerson Ave., in Wynot, Neb., to seek public input on the development of a conceptual site plan for the restoration of habitat and recreation features at the recently acquired Audubon Bend property in Cedar County, Neb.

Public Meeting Scheduled for North Alabama Bend Conceptual Site Plan Development
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at the University of South Dakota W.H. Over Museum, 1110 Ratingen Street, in Vermillion, SD. The purpose of the meeting is to seek public input on the development of a conceptual site plan for the enhancement of habitat and recreation features at the recently acquired North Alabama Bend property in Clay County, SD.
