No through traffic on Crest Road Wednesday

The spillway and powerplant roadway at Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will be closed Wedensday from 8 a.m. to noon for maintenance. This will prohibit through traffic on the road that crosses Gavins Point Dam, also known as the Crest Road.

Spillway gate repair to restart for season at Gavins Point Dam

The repairs, which began in 2014, include the inspection, repair, and painting of the 14 gates. The crest road that crosses the Gavins Point dam will experience periodic road and lane closures through the duration of construction.

Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam will be closed from 8 a.m. Monday, August 11 through 3:30 p.m. Friday, August 15. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time. The closure is a result of the inspection, repair and painting of the spillway gates at Gavins Point Dam. There will be periodic closures throughout duration of the construction, which will continue into the fall.
