  • Jamestown and Pipestem Dams increase releases following thunderstorms

    Releases from Jamestown Dam and Pipestem Dam will increase in response to several recent thunderstorms. Since May 1, Jamestown received 3.69 inches of rain, which is well above normal. Similar rainfall amounts were seen upstream of the dams.
  • Releases increased from Pipestem Reservoir

    Reservoir releases are being increased today from Pipestem Dam, North Dakota, to begin evacuating storage in the flood control pool. Releases are being reduced from nearby Jamestown Dam as it nears its target elevation of 1431.0 feet, the base of the exclusive flood control pool.
  • Release plan announced for Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs

    Snowmelt inflow is expected to begin at Jamestown and Pipestem Reservoirs in the next week. Combined releases from the reservoirs are currently expected to stay below 1200 cubic feet per second (cfs) with snowpack conditions being compared to 2001. Significant additional rainfall or snow may necessitate higher release levels.
