Public scoping period to begin for Gavins Point Dam, Lewis and Clark Lake master plan update; virtual public meeting scheduled

OMAHA, Neb. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District will be hosting a virtual public scoping meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will kick off the public scoping and comment period for the update and revision of the Gavins Point Dam, Lewis and Clark Lake master plan.

Proposal for Gavins Point Dam underseepage control measures available for public comment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, is seeking comments on a draft environmental assessment for a proposal to implement additional underseepage control measures at Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota. Comments on the draft EA will be accepted until May 27, 2020.

The Lewis and Clark Visitor Center, near Yankton, SD, will be closed from Monday, November 4 through Thursday, November 7 for the installation of new tile in the restrooms. The center, which is located on Nebraska Highway 121 near the Gavins Point Dam, will reopen on Friday, November 8.

Draft EA for surplus water use at Lewis and Clark Lake, NE available for public comment

A draft environmental assessment for a surplus water request at Lewis and Clark Lake in Nebraska is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the use of surplus water and the environmental impacts of installing and operating a water intake structure to withdraw 1.33 acre-feet per year for domestic use on private property. Comments must be received or postmarked by July 30, 2018.
