Omaha, Neb. -- A draft Environmental Assessment (EA) has been prepared for the Snake Creek Dam Safety Modification Study (DSMS). Conducted in accordance with Section 149 of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) 2020, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District has reevaluated recent interim risk reduction measures (IRRMs) implemented in the 2019 update to the Lake Audubon Water Control Manual (WCM). One operational alternative and two structural and operational combination alternatives were assessed in addition to the No Action Alternative.
This draft EA is consistent with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), as amended, the Council on Environmental Quality’s (CEQ, 2022) regulations for implementing NEPA (40 CFR 1500-1508), the Corps’ regulations for implementing NEPA (33 CFR 325 and Engineering Regulation 200-2-2) and other applicable environmental laws and regulations.
