  • Public meeting scheduled on Miles City, Montana flood risk management feasibility study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Custer County-Miles City Steering Committee and KLJ, will hold a public meeting from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at the Miles Community College (Rooms 106 & 107), 2715 Dickinson Street in Miles City, Montana. The purpose of the meeting is to gather input on the recently initiated feasibility study to address flood risk along the Yellowstone and Tongue Rivers within Miles City.
  • Additional public meeting scheduled for Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project in MT

    A third public meeting has been scheduled to solicit comments on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Fish Passage Project. The draft EIS analyzes potential effects associated with the proposed action to improve fish passage for pallid sturgeon and other native fish at the Intake Diversion Dam, continue the viable and effective operation of the Lower Yellowstone Project, and contribute to ecosystem restoration. Comments on the draft EIS must be postmarked or received by July 18, 2016.
  • Public scoping meeting scheduled for Intake Diversion Dam fish passage project in Montana

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Bureau of Reclamation will hold a public meeting on Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the Dawson County High School Auditorium, 900 N. Merrill Avenue, Glendive, Mont. to gather input on the development of an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Intake Diversion Dam fish passage project. Comments must be postmarked or received by February 18, 2016.
  • Commander signs FONSI for Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Modification

    Omaha District Commander Col. Joel R. Cross and Bureau of Reclamation, Great Plains Region, Montana Area Manager Brent Esplin have signed the Finding of No Significant Impact for the Lower Yellowstone Intake Diversion Dam Modification Project. The FONSI summarizes the environmental effects associated with the project and the decision of the co-lead agencies to select and implement the bypass channel alternative.

    The public comment period for the Yellowstone River diversion dam modification project at Intake, Mont. has been extended to May 16, 2014. The draft document for the proposed project can be viewed at http://www.usbr.gov/gp/mtao/loweryellowstone/index.html and in hardcopy at libraries in Glendive and Sidney, Mont.
  • Public comment sought on Intake diversion dam modification, lower Yellowstone project at Intake, Mont.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers along with the Bureau of Reclamation, co-lead agencies on the Intake Diversion Dam modification project, are seeking public comments on a draft supplement to an environmental assessment that was released in 2010. The supplement identifies alternatives to modify the existing diversion dam located in Intake, Mont. to improve passage for endangered pallid sturgeon and other native fish in the lower Yellowstone River.
