Technical assistance training available to the public for Atlas D Missile Site 4

Atlas D Missile Site 4 located in Laramie County, Wyoming is a Formerly Used Defense Site (FUDS), previously under the command of F.E. Warren Air Force Base. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, is managing the environmental cleanup resulting from former activities at the site that have contaminated the groundwater with trichloroethene (TCE), a cleaning solvent. The site is located approximately 18 miles west of Cheyenne and one mile south of the town of Granite, Wyoming.

CHEYENNE, WY - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, in cooperation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, will conduct four training sessions through the Technical Assistance for Public Participation program for the public and Restoration Advisory Board regarding Atlas D Missile Site 4.

The training will provide the public a better understanding of the technical aspects for environmental investigations and remediation activities related to trichloroethene (TCE) found in groundwater emanating from the Atlas D Missile Site 4, one mile south of Granite, Wyoming.

The training agenda includes:

  • Environmental Regulations
  • Chemistry of Contaminants
  • Conducting Investigations and Studies
  • Conceptual Site Model
  • Groundwater and Subsurface Characteristics
  • Contaminant Fate and Transport
  • Evaluation and Selection of Remedy
  • Remediation Technologies

The technical assistance training will take place over four sessions scheduled for the following dates:

January 14, January 21, January 28, and February 4, 2016

Pre-registration for the training is not required. Those interested in participating are encouraged to attend all four sessions.
