YANKTON, SD - Gavins Point Dam will accept applications for duck blind permits from August 1 through September 1. The application form, application guidelines and duck blind unit map are now available online for download.
Only one blind application per household will be accepted. Applications postmarked later than September 1, 2015 will not be accepted. A photocopy of the applicant's valid Nebraska or South Dakota hunting license for waterfowl hunting is required with the application.
Hunting is permitted on Gavins Point Project lands and waters during open hunting seasons, except where specifically prohibited. All hunting at the Gavins Point Project shall be in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and Local Laws and Regulations, including Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), along with Gavins Point Project Shoreline Management Policy and the following Duck Blind Permit Conditions. A valid Shoreline Use (Duck Blind) Permit IS REQUIRED for waterfowl blinds that are not removed from project lands and waters daily. Permits allow the placement of a blind at a specific location on Gavins Point Project lands and/or waters to remain on project lands/waters during the specified dates indicated in the permit conditions, September 9, 2015 until May 1, 2016. There is a $10 permit fee required upon application for Duck Blind Permits.
Blinds and all associated materials must be removed from Gavins Point Project lands and waters no later than May 1, 2016. However, this year all blinds located in Unit 2 must be removed before March 1, 2016 to allow the treatment of noxious weeds.
