OMAHA, Neb. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is seeking public comment to evaluate the impacts of the Bowman-Haley Dam and Reservoir Project Water Control Manual and Water Control Plan Update for Bowman County, North Dakota.
The draft Environmental Assessment evaluates two alternatives, the No Action Alternative and the Preferred Alternative which consists of updating the Water Control Plan to maintaining the reservoir’s multipurpose conservation pool at two to four feet below the morning glory spillway elevation of 2754.8 ft. local project datum (LPD).
The current Water Control Plan specifies the reservoir’s multipurpose conservation pool is maintained at the morning glory spillway elevation of 2754.8 feet, however, operational practices since the mid 1990’s have maintained the conservation pool at approximately 2751.8 feet LPD, to reduce shoreline erosion. The No Action Alternative is carried through analysis to establish a baseline of present conditions and the future of the proposed project area without action.
The public is encouraged to provide comments on the draft environmental assessment which can be viewed and downloaded at: https://usace.contentdm.oclc.org/digital/collection/p16021coll7/id/23765/rec/1
