This meeting will commence the public scoping comment period for the update and revision of the Fort Peck Dam and Lake Master Plan and the associated Environmental Assessment. The USACE, Omaha District encourages the public to provide comments through Feb.16, 2022 regarding management of public lands, as well as environmental, cultural, and recreational resources at the Fort Peck Project.

A Master Plan is a high-level, strategic document that describes how the U.S. Corps of Engineers will operate and manage public lands.  The existing 2008 Fort Peck Dam and Lake Master Plan must be updated to meet current regulations, policies, regional needs, and to better reflect current recreational needs – while providing stewardship of the project’s environmental, cultural, and aesthetic resources. The development of an updated Master Plan will assist USACE in providing proper management and stewardship of the project’s resources for present and future generations.

In addition, an update to the Shoreline Management Plan and a proposed Integrated Pest Management Plan will also be developed. This input will help shape the Masterplan update and revision process so USACE may identify how to better manage the area while protecting its natural, cultural, historic, and manmade resources.

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), USACE will also complete an Environmental Assessment (EA) to address potential environmental effects associated with the Master Plan update and revision.

Due to public health and safety concerns associated with COVID-19, this initial public scoping meeting will be held virtually via WebEx. The public can join the meeting at the following link: https://usace1.webex.com/meet/zachary.j.montreuil or call in audio-only by at: 1-844-800-2712 and when prompted, enter in access code: 2763-773-0260.
