BACKGROUND: Project activities include removal of gravel, culvert replacement, paving, sub-grading, and contouring within the proposed easement area on USACE-managed lands to meet North Dakota Department of Transportation roadway design and safety standards. The scope of ground disturbance for this project includes a 50-ft.-wide right-of-way alongside the existing footprint of County Road 9, and an additional 25 acres added to the current road easement.
The proposed project will have the potential to reduce future maintenance costs and the new roadway will be constructed to current county design standards. This effort is part of the broader Mountrail County Route 9 - Phase II Roadway Improvements Project, aimed at addressing roadway deficiencies, safety concerns, and drainage along County Route 9 from the White Earth Bay Cottage Site to ND Highway 1804.
