OMAHA, Neb. - The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee will hold an Adaptive Management Workshop in Nebraska City Feb. 6-8. The workshop will be at the Lied Lodge, 2700 Sylvan Road, Nebraska City, NE 68410, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, and concluding at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7. The workshop will be followed by Bird, Fish, and Human Considerations team meetings on Thursday, Feb. 8, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The workshop and team meetings are open to the public; please RSVP to owen@udall.gov. Logistical information can be found online at www.MRRIC.org.

The Bird, Fish, and Human Considerations teams were developed as part of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers adaptive management framework for implementing the Missouri River Recovery Program. The program seeks to avoid a finding of jeopardy to threatened and endangered species (pallid sturgeon, least tern and piping plover) resulting from Corps projects on the Missouri River. The three teams consist of agency staff from the Corps and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as well as members of the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee. The teams will have an opportunity to learn about the MRRP strategic plan and consider the prioritization and timing of science and management actions into the future for planning and budgeting purposes.

MRRIC is a 70-member committee comprised of stakeholders and representatives of Tribal, state and federal governments throughout the Missouri River Basin. This committee provides recommendations to federal agencies on the current and future activities of the MRRP. The committee makes its substantive recommendations by consensus. The committee, established in the fall of 2008, meets quarterly at various locations throughout the Missouri River Basin. The next MRRIC plenary meeting will be held here March 27-29, 2018.

For additional information regarding the MRRIC, please contact Ms. Gail Bingham, committee chair, by e-mail at mrric@usace.army.mil. Information about the Missouri River recovery efforts is available online at www.MRRIC.org and www.MoRiverRecovery.org.
