  • Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment, Middle Decatur Bend Operation and Maintenance Repairs, available for public comment

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment (EA) for operation and maintenance repairs at Middle Decatur Bend is currently available for public review. The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing a water control structure (WCS10) that was damaged during high water in 2018. WCS10 is located along Missouri River Mile 687.25 in Monona County, Iowa and maintains the lake elevations for Decatur Bend Lake located immediately upstream of the structure. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than January 28, 2019.
  • City of Omaha to host scoping open house regarding Cunningham Lake recreation potential

    The City of Omaha, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District, will hold a scoping open house to seek public input on potential recreational features at Glenn Cunningham Lake Jan. 8, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Camelot Community Center, 9270 Cady Ave.
  • Public meeting scheduled in Denver for update on Cherry Creek Dam Safety Modification Study and associated spillway activities

    The Omaha District will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. to provide an update on the Cherry Creek Dam Safety Modification Study and seek public input on necessary maintenance activities within the spillway that were identified as part of the dam safety study. The meeting will be held at the Lake House at Cherry Creek, 4800 South Dayton Street, Greenwood Village, Colorado. The location for the public meeting is inside the State Park but there will be no park entrance fees for attendees of the meeting.
  • Draft report for potential shoreline protection and ecosystem restoration project at Lower Brule available for public review

    A draft feasibility report with environmental assessment to address shoreline erosion and restore degraded wetland and riparian habitats along Lake Sharpe near the town of Lower Brule, SD is currently available for public review. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than December 21, 2018.
  • Public meetings scheduled on Papillion Creek Basin flood risk management feasibility study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has scheduled open houses to share details about the Papillion Creek Basin flood risk management study on Monday, December 3, from 5:30-7:30 pm at Concordia High School (Commons Area), 15656 Fort Street, Omaha, Nebraska and Wednesday, December 5 from 5:30-7:30 pm at Chalco Hills Recreation Area, 8901 S 154th Street, Omaha, Nebraska.
  • Draft EA for control of zebra mussels and common carp in Glenn Cunningham Lake available for public review

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to control two invasive species in Omaha’s Glenn Cunningham Lake is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the impacts of drawing the lake down during the 2018 fall and winter months to freeze the zebra mussels and applying Rotenone in the remaining pools to control common carp. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than October 17, 2018.
  • Draft EA for bank stabilization project at Lake Sharpe, SD available for public comment

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to protect cultural sites from bank erosion within the Fort George Historic District at Lake Sharpe in Stanley County, South Dakota is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of constructing an off-shore breakwater structure to protect cultural sites from bank erosion caused by wind/wave, and ice action. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than September 21, 2018.
