Public meeting scheduled on Deadman's Run flood risk management feasibility study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District (NRD) and the city of Lincoln, will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the 4th Presbyterian Church, 5200 Francis Street, Lincoln, Neb. from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with a brief presentation at 5:30 p.m. describing the study followed by an open house. The purpose of the meeting is to gather input on the recently initiated Deadmans Run flood risk management feasibility study. Deadman’s Run is located primarily in northeast Lincoln. [Read More]

Cherry Creek Dam Crest Road to close for dam safety instrumentation and maintenance project

The Crest Road at Cherry Creek Dam will be closed from June 22 through July 12 to accommodate work that will be taking place adjacent to the crest road. The bike path at the downstream toe of the dam will remain open through construction. Crews will install two new groundwater observation wells, known as piezometers and remove 14 existing piezometers that are more than 60 years old from service and are no longer functional or needed. Crews will also be performing maintenance work on relief wells along the toe of the dam. [Read More]
