CHAMBERLAIN, S.D. – Due to scheduled upgrades to the raw water supply system at the Big Bend power plant, water releases will be switched over to the spillway May 7-10. During this time the Old Fort Thompson and North Shore Beach recreation areas will be closed.
The forecasted releases for May 7 are approximately 43,000 cubic feet per seconds, meaning the spillway gates will be open approximately four to five feet during this time.
Use of the spillway system could extend to May 13-30 depending on scheduled releases and power generation requirements.
