West Point Levee Restoration Information

Background: The West Point – Elkhorn River Left Bank Levee System was damaged during the 2019 Flood Event, leading to the Levee Sponsor submitting a Public Law (PL) 84-99 Rehabilitation Assistance request to the US Army Corps of Engineers – Omaha District.

Current Action:  Design funding has been received to begin the engineering and design work on the levee repair project. The purpose of the rehabilitation is to repair the levee system to the authorized level of flood risk management.

Next Steps:

  1. Complete the engineering and design process.
  2. Advertise and award the levee repair contract.
  3. Repair the levee system to its authorized level of flood risk management benefits.
