    Nebraska Department of Transportation - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) issues this Notice of Intent (NOI) to announce that it will prepare a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) to analyze the direct, indirect and cumulative effects of a proposed Nebraska State Highway project, Nebraska Highway 12 Niobrara East and West Project (project), by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT). NDOT proposes to rehabilitate two segments of N-12 east and west of Niobrara, between Verdel and Santee Spur 54-D (S-54D) in Knox County, Nebraska.

    Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) - The NDOT proposes to construct a new 11.5-mile-long four-lane divided freeway along the southern perimeter of the City. The project begins on U.S. Highway 77 (US-77) between Saltillo Road and Bennet Road and traverses east to the intersection of South 120th Street and Nebraska Highway 2 (N-2), where it then continues east on N-2 until the intersection at South 148th Street. Interchanges are proposed along the freeway at US-77, Saltillo Road, 27th Street, 68th Street, 84th Street, and 120th Street. Overpass structures are proposed along the freeway at 25th Street, the Homestead Trail, the BNSF Railroad, 54th Street, Saltillo Road (East of 98th Street), and the OPPD Rail Spur. The roadway will be designed to NDOT freeway standards.

    Western Sand & Gravel Company (WSG) - WSG proposes to restore (reestablish) approximately 70 acres of wetlands and 2,421 linear feet of an unnamed tributary with the goal of banking 70 wetland credits and 10,000 stream credits. They propose to accomplish this by restoring 10 acres of PEMA/C riverine channel wetlands along a restored unnamed tributary to Salt Creek and restoring 60 acres of PEMA/C riverine floodplain wetlands. The objective of the wetland bank site is to have available wetland mitigation credits for future WSG sand and gravel mine sites that cannot entirely avoid wetland and stream impacts. The bank credits would be used to offset impacts at these future locations within the proposed bank service area.
