The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (USACE) is evaluating a request to develop a compensatory mitigation site servicing the Lower Clark Fork watershed, by restoring, rehabilitating, and enhancing approximately 15.8 acres of the Upland Buffer and approximately 23.8 acres of wetlands adjacent to the Thompson River, waters of the United States to achieve a maximum of 19.40 wetland mitigation credits. This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed compensatory mitigation bank and to solicit comments.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (Corps) is evaluating a request to develop a compensatory mitigation site under the Montana Department of Transportation’s (MDT) statewide compensatory mitigation umbrella bank, approved on October 24, 2023. This Proposed Site Plan (Plan) is the first phase of mitigation site evaluation. It is intended to determine whether the site has enough potential to warrant development of a more detailed Draft Mitigation Site Plan. The proposed mitigation site would cover stream and wetland impacts permitted under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act for MDT projects within Watershed #3 – Lower Clark Fork River Basin (WS 3).
