    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (USACE) is evaluating a permit application from Big Ditch Company. The proposed project includes the dredging of streambed material from an area totaling 0.57 acre below the ordinary highwater mark (OHWM) of the Yellowstone River for maintained flow to an irrigation headgate. The dredging would extend 500 linear feet (LF) and 3 feet in depth for a total of up to3,000 cubic yards (CY) of dredged material. Upon completion of the dredging, the dredged material would be deposited, graded, and smoothed along 500 LF of the left bank (north side)and 150 LF of the right bank (south side) of the channel to match existing riverbed contours. In the past, dredging has been completed within one to two days. If needed, dredging would occur annually. This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed activity and to solicit comments.

    Project’s Short Description: The purpose of the proposed wetland mitigation project is to fulfill MARS’ obligation to provide 53.06 functional mitigation units (FMU) of compensatory wetland mitigation credit to offset permanent impacts to 7.88 acres (53.06 FMU) of palustrine emergent and scrub/shrub wetland within the Lower Clark Fork Watershed Service Area 3, within at least one of three areas (Spring Creek Area, Jones Parcel, Cattail Enhancement Area) within the project area.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (Corps) is evaluating a request by Montana Aquatic Resources Services (MARS) to add an In-Lieu Fee (ILF) compensatory mitigation site to the Program’s Instrument, updated in May 2020. The Proposed Site Plan (Plan) is the first phase of mitigation site evaluation. It is intended to determine whether the site has enough potential to warrant development of a more detailed Draft Mitigation Site plan. This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed activity and to solicit comments. The proposed mitigation site would cover the Flathead Watershed.
