Draft Supplemental EA - Middle Decatur Bend (Phase III)

The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing a water control structure (WCS10) that was damaged during high water in 2018. WCS10 is located along Missouri River Mile 687.25 in Monona County, Iowa and maintains the lake elevations for Decatur Bend Lake located immediately upstream of the structure.

Draft Project Implementation Report/EA - Emergent Sandbar Habitat, McLean and Oliver Counties, ND

Expiration date: 6/20/2018

The proposed Emergent Sandbar Habitat project includes mechanical construction of sandbar habitat, up to approximately 24 acres in size, at river mile 1348 (near Washburn, North Dakota). Material would be borrowed from the river bed and placed on top of the existing shallow submerged sandbar. This minimizes the amount of material that needs to be moved and increases longevity of the constructed sandbar.

The project purpose is to replace aquatic habitat lost by construction and operation of the Bank Stabilization and Navigation Project (BSNP); improving aquatic habitat and diversity for pallid sturgeon and other native aquatic species; and maximizing the amount of biologically productive and physically sustainable habitat beneficial to such aquatic species while maintaining a properly functioning navigation channel.
