  • Omaha District commander signs Chatfield Reservoir Water Storage Agreement

    Omaha District Commander Col. Joel R. Cross, signed the Water Storage Agreement for the Chatfield Water Reallocation Project in Lakewood, Colo., today. The agreement will be between the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, Colorado Water Conservation Board and Department of the Army. Upon execution, storage from the flood control purpose will be reallocated to joint flood control-conservation purposes in the Chatfield Reservoir under the authority of - Section 808 (Water Resources Development Act of 1986); River and Harbor Act of 1958.
  • Assistant Secretary of the Army approves water reallocation agreement for Colorado

    The Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works, Jo-Ellen Darcy, approved the water reallocation agreement for the Chatfield Water Reallocation Project in Lakewood, Colorado, in a memo sent to the Omaha District on September 30. Signature authority for the agreement was delegated to Omaha District Commander Col.Joel R. Cross.
  • Public comments sought on environmental assessment for a proposed seismic study to evaluate hydrocarbon reserves in N.D.

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposed seismic study to evaluate hydrocarbon reserves in McKenzie and Williams Counties, N.D. is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of seismic exploration activities on federal and non-federal lands within the project area.
  • Draft environmental assessment for modifications to Missouri River structures available for review

    A draft environmental assessment for the modification of 73 existing dike structures along the Missouri River is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of modifying the structures to create the physical conditions necessary to maximize the amount of shallow water habitat at each of the notched dikes.
  • Draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to Upper Hamburg chute available for public review

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to the Upper Hamburg chute in Otoe County, Neb. is currently available for public review. The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing chute bank erosion that formed along two locations during the 2011 Missouri River flood. The purpose and scope of this supplemental EA are limited to evaluating the potential environmental effects of the proposed operation and maintenance chute repair actions.

    A draft supplemental environmental assessment for repairs to the Council Bend chute in Pottawattamie County, Iowa is currently available for public review. The draft supplemental EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing a chute scour hole that formed along the southern bank during the 2011 Missouri River flood. The purpose and scope of this supplemental EA are limited to evaluating the potential environmental effects of the proposed operation and maintenance chute repair actions.
  • Public comment sought on shallow water habitat project at Middle Decatur Bend, Burt County, Neb.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a public meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the Decatur City Auditorium, 913 S. Broadway St., Decatur, Neb. from 6 to 8:00 p. m. to seek comment on a proposed shallow water habitat construction project at Middle Decatur Bend in Burt County, Neb.
