03 February 2021 - The levee repair project was completed on 07 October 2020. The team is working through the contract close-out process.
08 September 2020 - The contractor is approximately 90 percent complete with the final levee repair project and is currently installing aggregate surfacing along the levee.
16 July 2020 - The contractor is repairing scour erosion along the levee and is approximately 70 percent complete with the final levee repair project.
10 June 2020 - The contractor is repairing scour erosion along the levee and is approximately 65 percent complete with the final levee repair project.
08 May 2020 - The contractor is repairing scour erosion along the levee and is approximately 55 percent complete with the final levee repair project.
23 April 2020 - The contractor is repairing scour erosion along the levee and is approximately 45 percent complete with the final levee repair project.
10 April 2020 - The contractor is repairing scour erosion along the levee and is approximately 15 percent complete with the final levee repair project.
16 March 2020 - The contractor is currently cleaning out the drainage structure along the levee system and mining cohesive borrow material.
04 March 2020 - The contractor has mobilized to the project site and begun levee repairs.
13 February 2020 - The contractor is scheduled to mobilize to the project site in mid-February.
31 January 2020 - The pre-construction meeting was held on 22 January 2020 with the contractor scheduled to mobilize to the project site in mid-February 2020.
10 January 2020 - The pre-construction meeting has been scheduled for 21 January 2020.
18 December 2019 - The contract for L-561 levee repairs was awarded on 18 December 2019 to Young's General Contracting, Inc. of Poplar Bluff, MO in the amount of $6.5 million. The period of performance to complete the levee repairs is 210 calendar days after notice to proceed is provided to the contractor.
06 December 2019 - The levee repair contract was advertised on 15 November 2019 with the pre-bid site visit occurring on 25 November 2019. The bid opening is scheduled for 10 December 2019.
22 November 2019 - The levee repair contract was advertised on 15 November 2019 with the pre-bid site visit scheduled for 25 November 2019 and the bid opening scheduled for 03 December 2019.
08 November 2019 - The team is anticipating advertising the levee repair contract in the next few weeks with award by the end of the calendar year. This anticipated schedule is dependent on real estate documentation being finalized with the adjacent property owners.

13 October 2019 - The team is anticipating advertising the L-561 Nish levee repair contract next week. However, this will be dependent upon the team finalizing real estate documentation with the adjacent property owners.
27 September 2019 – Funds to repair the L-561 levee system have been received. The construction contract is scheduled to be awarded at the beginning of December.
13 September 2019 – The team is working to finalize the levee repair design for the L-561 levee system. It is anticipated that the contract for construction bids will be advertised in October.
06 September 2019 – The team has identified a few concerns with the initial levee repair design and is working on revising the design. This also includes coordination with the levee sponsor on the updated path forward with the design.
29 August 2019 – Team continues engineering and design work on repairs for the Nishnabotna levee system. Design is expected to be complete by late summer/early fall at which time a construction contract will be advertised and awarded to repair the system.
13 August 2019 – Engineering and Design (E&D) work continues for rehabilitating the L561 Nishnabotna levee system. The team is still anticipating to be done with the E&D process by late-summer or early-fall.
31 July 2019 – The USACE Design team and Levee Sponsor conducted a “Plan In-Hand” review of the repair design documents on 30 July 2019. These reviews are conducted to ensure that the team is developing a technically feasible and acceptable design.
22 July 2019 – Engineering and Design (E&D) work continues. The team is still anticipating to be done with the E&D process by late-summer or early-fall.

15 June 2019 – An initial site damage assessment and economic analysis has been completed. From this initial assessment the USACE team has determined that there are damages to the levee system that are eligible for PL 84-99 Rehabilitation Assistance.
