The Omaha District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) is evaluating a request Mark Mergen to create a compensatory mitigation bank site in the Lower Big Sioux Geographic Service Area (GSA). The purpose of this public notice is to evaluate the potential of this proposed site plan to adequately compensate for stream and wetland impacts associated with Department of the Army permits pursuant to Section 404 of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. §1344) and/or Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899 (33 U.S.C. §403). The project would affect waters of the United States associated with the Lower Big Sioux River. The project/review area is located on the South side of 234th Street, 0.6-miles Southeast of the intersection of 234th Street and 462nd Avenue in Section 16, Township 106 N, Range 51 W; at Latitude 43.9873 and Longitude -96.9610; south of Wentworth, Lake County, South Dakota.
