USACE to hold public meeting on Bear Creek Dam Service and Emergency Gate Operation and Maintenance Project
BEAR CREEK, C.O. –
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), in coordination with the City of Lakewood, Colorado, will hold an open house on Tuesday, June 25th, 2024 at the Red Rocks Baptist Church (14711 W Morrison Rd) in Morrison, Colorado, from 5:30 to 7:00 pm.
The purpose of the meeting is to provide the public an opportunity to learn about the proposed gate replacement of two service and two emergency gates at Bear Creek Dam and solicit public input. During the open house, the community is welcomed to join USACE representatives and technical experts to discuss the proposed Operation and Maintenance project.
A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) is being prepared to assess social and environmental impacts from the proposed action in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), as amended, the Council on Environmental Quality’s (CEQ, 2022) regulations for implementing NEPA (40 CFR 1500-1508), the Corps’ regulations for implementing NEPA (33 CFR 325 and Engineering Regulation 200-2-2) and other applicable environmental laws and regulations. The draft EA is anticipated to be available to the public by mid-June for a 30-day review period. The public is encouraged to provide comments on the draft EA when it becomes available.
