The District Engineer (Omaha) is evaluating a permit application from the Souris River Joint Board for the next permittable stage of construction of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Risk Reduction Project (MREFPP). Construction Stage 2 (Milestone 2) is referred to as the South Minot System and is generally located in the 1st and Central Avenue area of downtown Minot (MI-6); the Roosevelt Park and Zoo area
of Minot (MI-7); central Minot near South Valker Road (MI-8); and modifications of the Burdick
Expressway Bridge (MI-9). Work proposed includes levees, floodwalls, structural closures, riprap, replacement of the Burdick Expressway Bridge, overbank excavation and infrastructure modifications. The project site is located on and near the Souris (Mouse) River in Sections 13, 18, 21, 22, 23 and 24, Township 155 North, Range 83 West, centered on Latitude 48.235496° North, Longitude -101.277355 ° West, Ward County, North Dakota.
