The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, (USACE) is evaluating a permit application from Big Ditch Company. The proposed project includes the dredging of streambed material from an area totaling 0.57 acre below the ordinary highwater mark (OHWM) of the Yellowstone River for maintained flow to an irrigation headgate. The dredging would extend 500 linear feet (LF) and 3 feet in depth for a total of up to3,000 cubic yards (CY) of dredged material. Upon completion of the dredging, the dredged material would be deposited, graded, and smoothed along 500 LF of the left bank (north side)and 150 LF of the right bank (south side) of the channel to match existing riverbed contours. In the past, dredging has been completed within one to two days. If needed, dredging would occur annually. This notice is to inform interested parties of the proposed activity and to solicit comments.
