Prescribed burns at Oahe Dam scheduled for April 7
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in conjunction with the U.S. Forest Service and local volunteer fire departments, have scheduled prescribed burns on the Oahe Dam for April 7, 2025, that will cause traffic restrictions to Highway 1806 and Crest Road (Highway 204).

Road to Government Bay Boat Ramp closing for maintenance
The road leading to Lake Sakakawea's Government Bay Boat Ramp at the junction with Missouri Drive in Riverdale, North Dakota will be temporarily closed beginning March 17, 2025, for boat ramp and bay maintenance scheduled by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District.

Standing Bear dam drawing down pool for maintenance
The pool at Standing Bear Dam with be drawn down to an elevation of 1102.5 ft, which is 1.5ft below normal pool levels. The drawdown is occurring to facilitate construction around the reservoir pool which sustained damage during high water earlier this year. Construction will include repair work around the west and north boat ramps and north shoreline. Releases will be increased to 20 cfs for four days to accommodate the draw down then decreased to maintain the pool elevation at 1102.5 ft. The Corps of Engineers will continue to monitor conditions and adjust as needed based on runoff conditions. As of November 7, Standing Bear Reservoir was at an elevation 1103.7 ft.

Jamestown and Pipestem dams increasing releases following a wet pattern
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District will increase releases from Jamestown Dam and Pipestem Dam beginning July 25 in response to an active rainfall pattern over recent months.

High flows scheduled during annual maintenance at Cherry Creek Dam May 22: USACE urges public safety
Higher than normal flows of water through Cherry Creek Dam will begin this Wednesday, May 22, as part of annual sediment flushing by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District to help ensure proper operation of the dam’s outlet gates.

Cherry Creek Dam and flood safety event to boost community awareness
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, in collaboration with Denver-area flood risk management partners, will host a community event with displays, gadgets, gear, scientists, engineers and park rangers to share information and build awareness of the role of Cherry Creek Dam in reducing flooding in the Denver area. Specialists in emergency preparedness and on the history and health of the Cherry Creek watershed also will help visitors explore their role in reducing floods.

Public comment sought for proposed improvements around River’s Edge North in Council Bluffs, Iowa
OMAHA, Neb. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District is soliciting comments regarding proposed improvements in River’s Edge North near L-627 Missouri River Left Bank Federal levee Flood Risk Reduction Project, operated and maintained by the City of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In compliance with Section 10, Rivers and Harbors Act 1899 (33 U.S.C. 403), for work in or affecting navigable waters of the United States, Southwest Iowa Nonprofit for Collective Impact (Requestor) has requested permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) for an alteration public access to the Missouri River riverfront near Council Bluffs, Iowa at Sections 28, 29, 32, and 33, Township 75 North, Range 44 West, Pottawattamie County, Iowa.

Streetlights servicing Highway 24 at Fort Peck Dam shut off for repairs
The streetlights servicing Montana Highway 24 along the Fort Peck Dam will be shut off for approximately four weeks while crews replace electrical equipment.
