Glendive, MT — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with the City of Glendive and Dawson County, will host a public meeting on Thursday, May 15 at 5:30 p.m. MDT at the Eastern Plains Event Center (313 S. Merrill Avenue, Glendive, Montana) to provide an update on the Glendive Flood Risk Management Feasibility Study.
The study focuses on reducing flood risk along the Yellowstone River in Glendive, particularly in West Glendive, where ice jam flooding poses a serious threat to homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure. These events can cause rapid rises in river levels with little warning, creating dangerous conditions that put lives, public safety, and emergency response systems at risk. Glendive has experienced more than 30 major ice jam floods, including severe events in 1969, 1986, 1994, and 2003.
The meeting will include an open house and a presentation by the study team. Attendees will learn about the study’s purpose, the proposed flood risk reduction alternative, and the next steps. Community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and provide input. The meeting will last from 5:30 – 7:30pm MDT with the presentation starting at 6:00pm.
The draft Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (FR/EA) is expected to be made available on May 14, 2025, at the link below. A 30-day comment period will be open for the public to provide written comments through June 14, 2025 by email to CENWO-CW-PlanningOutreach@usace.army.mil or postal mail at this address:
