Glacier County, MT: Former Del Bonita Radar Facility

Location and Description: The Del Bonita Radar Facility is located in Glacier County, 39 highway miles northwest of Cut Bank, Montana. The radar facility is approximately 6.5 miles south of the Canada-United States border in the north-central part of the Blackfeet Indian Reservation. The former Del Bonita Radar Facility consisted of a main installation with radar antennas, power house, fueling station, dormitories, command center, and a housing area. The buildings in the area of the main installation are all abandoned and empty. The site was removed from service on March 1, 1965, and the 681st Radar Squadron was deactivated on June 25, 1965. It was reported that the Tucson Hebrew Academy occupied the site from approximately 1962 to 1980. The site is currently unoccupied. 

Activities for 2015: Complete the remedial investigation report and submit for Montana Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) review and comments. Prepare the draft and draft final proposed plan. Promote community involvement. Complete the decision document.
