Final Feasibility Report and Integrated Environmental Assessment for Lower Brule North (NE Shoreline) Ecosystem Restoration, Lyman County, South Dakota Available
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District (Corps) has conducted an environmental analysis in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended. The final Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (IFR/EA) dated July 2022 for the Lower Brule North Ecosystem Restoration Project addresses ecosystem restoration and cultural and natural resource preservation opportunities in Lyman County, South Dakota adjacent to and north of the town of Lower Brule. The study and assessment were conducted under the Tribal Partnership Program (TPP). The resulting report proposes a Recommended Plan that will restore critical riparian and wetland habitats to be implemented as two separable projects under Section 203 of the Water Resources Development Act of 2000 (WRDA 2000), as amended (33 U.S.C. § 2269).

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District announced that the Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold a plenary session Aug. 22-24, 2023, in Kansas City, Missouri.

USACE Omaha District Change of Command Ceremony, July 26
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District will be holding a Change of Command ceremony July 26, 2023, as Colonel Mark R. Himes relinquishes command to Colonel Robert J. Newbauer. The Change of Command ceremony will take place at the Holland Center located at 1200 Douglas St., Omaha, NE 68102, and will commence at 10:00 a.m. on July 26th.

Kansas City District to hold public scoping meetings for Lower Missouri River Basin Flood and Risk Resiliency Study
Five public scoping meetings are scheduled along the Lower Missouri River Basin to provide an update on the ongoing Lower Missouri River Basin Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, also called the system plan, in July. The meetings will be co-hosted by the Omaha District and the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Results posted: USACE to hold webinar for Missouri River flow frequency analysis
The public is invited to attend a webinar July 19, 2023, from noon – 1:00 p.m. CST by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Kansas City and Omaha districts have completed the updates to the flow frequency data on the Lower Missouri River. The focus of the review is for partners in flood preparedness and response to learn more about the updates and how to use the new data.

Streetlights servicing Highway 24 at Fort Peck Dam shut off for repairs
