Corps of Engineers makes progress on emergency operations repairs, continues process to secure levee breach repair funding and award contracts
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, completed emergency operations repairs at the water treatment plant in Pacific Junction/Glenwood, Iowa Tuesday, and continues to work toward securing funding and awarding contracts for levee repair work.

USACE monitoring storms, working with partners
According to the U.S. National Weather Service, a strong storm is expected to move across the Missouri River Basin during the next 48 hours and is expected to continue and/or add to moderate and major flooding in parts of Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Iowa.

Jamestown, Pipestem reservoirs intakes increasing
Inflows to Jamestown Reservoir continue to increase due to snowmelt. As a result, reservoir releases are being increased to 200 cubic feet per second today and to 400 cfs on Thursday.

Corps seeks public comment on draft environmental assessment, Bakken Missouri River crossing natural gas pipeline project
A draft environmental assessment (EA) for the proposed construction of a natural gas pipeline approximately 20 miles south east of Williston, North Dakota is currently available for public review. Hiland Partners Holdings LLC, a subsidiary of Kinder Morgan Inc., is proposing to construct a 10.6-mile, 20-inch diameter natural gas gathering pipeline traversing Lake Sakakawea to connect existing infrastructure. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than May 12, 2019.

Draft supplemental environmental assessment for restoration of emergent sandbar habitat complexes in the Missouri River, Nebraska and South Dakota available for public review
A draft supplemental environmental assessment (SEA) on the restoration of emergent sandbar habitat (ESH) complexes in the Missouri River, Nebraska and South Dakota is currently available for public review. The draft SEA evaluates the environmental impacts of removing and preventing vegetation on ESH located within the Fort Randall reach, Lewis and Clark Lake segment, and Gavins Point reach of the Missouri River, South Dakota and Nebraska. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than May 8, 2019.

Omaha District awards contract to protect Iowa water plant
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District, awarded a contract to provide protection to the Glenwood/Pacific Junction Water Plant at Glenwood, Iowa. The $990,402 contract was awarded to Advanced Trenching and Utilities to provide protection to the water plant and well head that provides potable water to the Glenwood/Pacific Junction area. The water plant serves a population of approximately 6,000 people.

Garrison Dam releases to be reduced
Garrison Dam releases are scheduled to be reduced in 1,000-cubic feet per second increments from its current release of 13,000 cfs to 10,000 cfs by April 9.
