Inflows are currently 10 cubic feet per second (cfs) with no reservoir release. Jamestown Reservoir is currently at pool elevation 1430.8 feet, which is 0.2 feet below the base of the flood pool. Inflows are minimal with no reservoir release. The maximum combined release from the reservoirs is not expected to exceed 200 cfs this summer; however, significant rainfall could necessitate higher release levels. The upper James River basin is currently in abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions according to the US Drought Monitor, which could decrease rainfall runoff into the reservoirs.

    Jamestown Dam flood storage is nearly evacuated, with the pool elevation near the summer target of 1431 feet. Pipestem Dam releases will begin today to evacuate flood storage as outlined in the water control manual. Jamestown Dam releases are being decreased from 300 cubic feet per second to 125 cfs today while Pipestem Dam will increase releases to 160 cfs. The combined release will be 285 cfs.

    Pipestem Reservoir is currently at pool elevation 1445.0 feet, which results in 1.7 percent of the flood pool occupied. Inflows are currently 40 cubic feet per second (cfs) with no reservoir release. Jamestown Reservoir is currently at pool elevation 1430.0 feet, which is one foot below the base of the flood pool. Inflows are currently 10 cfs with no reservoir release. The maximum combined release from the reservoirs is not expected to exceed 200 cfs; however, significant rainfall could necessitate higher release levels.
