    Omaha District supports Missouri River Relief cleanup event

    For the fourth time, volunteers from around the Omaha and Council Bluffs area came together to support the organization, Missouri River Relief and help clean up the banks of the Missouri River. On Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, more than 200 volunteers collected massive amounts of junk that had been washed down the river after last year's flooding.

    Crews are deploying a multiple electrode resistivity unit – MER, for short – to create a map of changes in the soil beneath as part of the geotechnical investigations process developed for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to improve knowledge of the conditions for levee foundations as well as the construction of the levees themselves.

    Fort Carson achieves 1st platinum building certification

    A milestone in building construction was reached at Fort Carson in April when the 4th Infantry Division’s 4th Brigade and Battalion Headquarters on Wilderness Road received the first U.S. Green Building Council Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design platinum certification for the installation.

    New B Street pedestrian bridge provides safer passage for students

    The B Street pedestrian bridge at Fort Carson, Colo., a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project part and parcel of the Fort Carson railyard expansion, opened for students of Stratmoor Hills Elementary School Jan. 20, 2012. The $12.5 million expansion project began in October 2010.
