Army Corps of Engineers modifying operations at recreation areas due to Coronavirus
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) announced today that it has begun the orderly shutdown of all USACE-managed campgrounds to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019. Visitor centers, beaches, special events, and USACE-sponsored events such as shore sweeps, interpretive programs, Kids to Parks Day, Earth Day events, public meetings and other public gatherings at all USACE-managed sites and facilities have also been closed and/or put on hold until further notice.

Corps closes visitor centers, suspends tours
Due to health and safety precautions regarding COVID-19 (coronavirus), all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - Omaha District Visitor Centers will be closed and all public group tours and events and have been cancelled until further notice.

A proposal to improve the water distribution system for the Power-Teton County Water and Sewer District is currently available for public comment through April 13, 2020.

Corps awards a $37M contract to complete final repairs on Missouri River Levee System L-550
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District awarded a $37.4M construction contract to Weston Solutions of Chester, Pennsylvania, Friday. Awarding this contract keeps the team on track for closing the final breach on the L-550 levee system before Mar. 1.

Corps remains on track for Mar. 1 initial closure on L-575 levee system
Six of the seven breaches along the L-575 system have been initially closed, with the seventh breach expected to be closed by Mar. 1.

Corps returns entirety of Missouri River Levee System L-611-614 to pre-flood height, and awards a contract to complete levee repairs on the Papillion Creek Levee Systems in the Omaha Metro
Repairs on the Missouri River Levee System L-611-614 have returned the entirety of the levee system to its pre-flood height. Although the system has been returned to its pre-flood height, there is still an elevated risk until all of the damages on the levee system can be repaired. Repair efforts will continue on this levee system, such as relief well testing and replacement.

Draft Programmatic EA for PL 84-99 levee repairs available for comment
A draft programmatic environmental assessment to evaluate the impacts of implementing structural repairs, under Public Law 84-99, to levees damaged during devastating flooding in March 2019 is currently available for review. Comments on the draft programmatic EA must be postmarked or received by March 4, 2020.

Corps closes two more breaches on Missouri River Levee System L-594
Two outlet breaches on the Missouri River Levee System L-594 were closed on Saturday. These are the third and fourth breaches to be closed on the L-594 system, providing an initial level of flood risk management to the area behind this downstream portion of the levee, located west of Thurman, Iowa. The USACE team and Contractor will continue finalizing repairs at these breach locations while also focusing on the one remaining outlet breach.

Winter Release Levels Decreased at Pipestem Dam
A river rise occurred late last week in the City of Jamestown due to ice formation south of town. In order to provide relief, releases were reduced by 50 cfs from Pipestem Dam, for a total release of 200 cfs.
