Corps completes initial breach closure on the Platte River Right Bank Repair Project
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District has completed the initial breach repair along the right bank of the Platte River, just upstream of the confluence of the Platte River with the Missouri River, on Tuesday.

Fort Peck announces winter access for motorized vehicles
Recreationists accessing Fort Peck Lake, Montana, and the Dredge Cuts this winter are reminded that motorized vehicles are only permitted on developed access routes, such as public roads, numbered roads, boat ramps or designated ice access routes within U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Recreation Areas.

Access limited to Fort Peck spillway
The Fort Peck, Montana, spillway can be accessed by boat from the Missouri River or by foot from the west side of the spillway (Missouri River upstream side). Due to erosion of CMR Road #361, the US Army Corps of Engineers has designated a parking area where the public can then walk into the spillway from the west.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District closed a sixth breach along Missouri River Levee System L-550, located near Missouri River Mile 524 southwest of Rock Port, Missouri, on Tuesday.

Corps seeks public comment on improvements to wastewater system in Plentywood, Montana
A proposal to improve the wastewater collection system for the City of Plentywood is currently available for public comment through Feb. 11. The proposed project is needed to address deterioration in the current system, including broken clay and concrete pipes, and to provide reliable service to city residents.

District Garrison Project announces 2019-2020 winter access policy
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Garrison Project, announced their 2019-2020 winter access policy this week. This year there will be 113 areas/points of entry to Lake Sakakawea and 20 areas/points of entry to Lake Audubon.

Draft Environmental Assessment on Snow and Soil Moisture Monitoring Network in the Upper Missouri River Basin available for comment
A draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for updating three soil moisture and plains snowpack monitoring stations is currently available for public comment. The EA evaluates the environmental impacts of updating monitoring stations in Brookings, South Dakota; Sheridan, Wyoming; and Bozeman, Montana. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than February 10, 2020.

Corps awards contract to finalize repairs on the Clear Creek, Platte River Levee System
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District awarded an approximately $9.2 million levee repair contract to Young’s General Contracting, Inc. of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Monday. This contract will build upon the initial breach repair efforts that was completed on the Clear Creek, Platte River Right Bank Levee System in March of 2019 to fully rehabilitate the damaged levee system.
