Omaha District Emergency Managers hold annual flood fight training

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha District Emergency Management Office held its annual Flood Fight training on February 27 for non-federal levee sponsors in the PL 84-99 program, and State and County Emergency Managers near Omaha, Neb.

Training topics included PL 84-99 authorities, how to request assistance, flood fighting, post-flood regulatory and permitting processes, flood outlook, levee safety action classification and the Silver Jackets program. 

Approximately 50 people were in attendance.

• Spring Flood Outlook - NWS Forecast, Snow data and drought monitoring
• Northwestern Division Missouri River Water Management Division  - Runoff and reservoir operation forecast for Spring 2014
• Flood Fight Training - Levee inspections 
• Regulatory Program - Flood response actions, post flood permitting
• Non- Structural Alternatives - reducing flooding impacts through nonstructural alternatives
• Nebraska Silver Jackets - Risk Communication Website
