Proposed changes to Water Control Plan for Cherry Creek Dam near Denver, CO available for public comment
Water managers for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Omaha District have released a Draft Report outlining proposed modifications to the Water Control Plan for Cherry Creek Dam during extreme flood events. The proposed plan allows water managers to release more water from the dam to reduce the risk of overtopping and failure. Public comments are being accepted on the report through November 18, 2016. Changes to the water control plan could be implemented as early as January 2017.

Community invited to Town Hall meeting regarding Missile Site 3
Town Hall meeting to be held October 25 for all community members within the local area of the Atlas "D" missile site 3 to discuss efforts by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers made relating to the ongoing environmental studies and restoration activities at the former Atlas "D" Missile Site 3.

Reservoir levels at 3 Lincoln, NE area reservoirs to be lowered
Reservoir levels at three Lincoln area dams will begin temporarily decreasing tomorrow, October 13. Releases from three Salt Creek dams, Wagontrain - Salt Creek 8, Stagecoach - Salt Creek 9, and Pawnee - Salt Creek 14 will begin Thursday morning and continue through October 19 or, depending upon the weather, until target pool elevations are reached.

Contract awarded for project in Nemaha County, NE
Western Contracting Corporation of Sioux City, Iowa, has been awarded a $1,868,600 construction contract for work in Nemaha County, Nebraska. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Omaha District awarded the contract for the Langdon Bend top width widening project.

Contract awarded for projects in Harrison and Monona, Iowa, counties
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded a $435,450 construction contract to Western Contracting Corporation of Sioux City, Iowa, for Rock Structure Modifications at the Deer Island Top Width Widening Project in Harrison County, Iowa, and Middle Decatur Embankment Repair in Monona County, Iowa.

Draft EA for levee repairs near Langdon, MO available for public comment
A draft environmental assessment for repairs to Missouri River levee unit L-550 near Langdon in Atchison County, Missouri is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of repairing damage along a drainage ditch between L-550 and Rock Creek caused by high precipitation events. Repairs are needed to prevent seepage of levee foundation material from L-550 into the drainage ditch. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than October 27, 2016.

Lake Audubon, ND fall drawdown brings US 83 lane closures
A one-lane road closure on U.S. Highway 83 crossing Lake Audubon in North Dakota will begin September 27 to allow paving and the fall drawdown of Lake Audubon.

Wagon Train and Stagecoach Lakes will be lowered for routine inspections
Beginning Friday September 23, Wagon Train Lake and Stagecoach Lake will be lowered a couple of feet below normal pool level to allow for routine conduit inspections. After the inspections are complete, both reservoirs will be refilled to normal conditions as inflows allow. It is expected that the reservoirs will be below normal pool levels for a two to four week period.

Invasive Tree Removal to take place below Gavins Point Dam
Beginning Monday Sept. 26 the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Gavins Point Project, will conduct noxious tree removal via a licensed contractor around Lake Yankton, located below Gavins Point Dam. Some areas and trails around Lake Yankton may be temporarily closed for visitor safety. The public is asked to obey all signs, avoid closed areas and to keep away from equipment and workers during this time.
