  • Training Dike boat ramp closed

    The Training Dike boat ramp, on the north side of the Missouri River just below Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, is closed until further notice due to low water conditions.
  • Public comment sought on proposed crude oil pipeline project in North Dakota

    An environmental assessment has been prepared to evaluate potential environmental impacts from construction and operation of a crude oil pipeline across private lands encumbered by federal flowage easements and federal land managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Comments must be postmarked or received by January 8, 2016.
  • Contract awarded for repairs to backwater site at Ponca State Park

    A contract for $1.75 million was awarded to Western Contracting Corporation of Sioux City, Iowa for repairs to a backwater site located within the Ponca State Park boundaries in Dixon County, Neb. Repairs are needed to restore the intended habitat function of the site and prevent it from degrading further.
  • Draft environmental assessment for construction of crude oil pipeline in Williams and McKenzie counties, including under Lake Sakakawea, N.D., available for public comment

    A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to construct a crude oil pipeline, of which 2.8 miles would be below Lake Sakakawea on Garrison Project lands managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is currently available for review. For planning purposes, comments must be postmarked or received no later than December 20, 2015.
  • Public comment sought on proposed oil and gas pipeline project in North Dakota

    A draft environmental assessment addendum has been prepared by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Omaha District to determine if any environmental impacts would be caused by a proposed project to construct an oil and gas pipeline system in McKenzie and Mountrail counties, N.D. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than December 31, 2015.
  • Nebraska Highway 12 EIS permit application withdrawn

    Following the November 9 public hearing hosted by the U.S. Army Corps Of Engineers, Omaha District, the Nebraska Department of Roads (NDOR) has withdrawn their permit application for the Nebraska Highway 12 - Niobrara East and West project under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

    Hunters on U.S. Army Corps of Engineer lands at the Gavins Point Project near Yankton, SD are reminded to follow regulations for using hunting blinds and tree stands.
  • Permit decisions scheduled for 2016 on two Colorado Front Range Water resource projects

    Permit decisions for Denver Water’s Moffat Collection System Project, and the Municipal Subdistrict of the Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District’s Windy Gap Firming Project have been rescheduled for release in 2016. Both projects propose to divert water from the upper Colorado River to the Colorado Front Range. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Section 404 Clean Water Act permit decisions were originally scheduled for release in late 2015, but coordination with other Federal, Tribal, State, and local agencies is on-going for these complex water supply proposals.
  • Construction contract for VA Eastern Colorado Health Care System Hospital awarded

    A $570 million fixed price-incentive contract was awarded today to Kiewit-Turner, A Joint Venture, to continue construction of the Veterans Affairs Eastern Colorado Health Care System Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. The project's estimated completion will be in 2018. “We are moving forward in partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs and Kiewit-Turner to deliver a quality project that meets the needs of our Veterans while also honoring our fiscal responsibilities to U. S. taxpayers,” said Col. John W. Henderson, Omaha District Commander.
  • Gavins Point Dam Road Closed November 2 – 4

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will be closed 7 a.m. Monday, November 2 through 7 a.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.
