Draft EA for flood risk reduction project in Williston, ND available for public comment
A draft environmental assessment for a proposal to develop a flood risk reduction project for the city of Williston, ND is currently available for public review. The draft EA evaluates the environmental impacts of implementing a project that reduces the threat of flooding to the city from the Bell and Handy Andy watersheds and Sand Creek. Comments must be postmarked or received no later than May 30, 2018.

2018 online reservations now available for downstream, East Totten Trail, and Wolf Creek campgrounds at Lake Sakakawea
Reservations are now open for campsites at Lake Sakakawea for the 2018 recreation camping season, with some slight increases in prices. Reservations may be made through: www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.

Open house rescheduled in Oacoma, South Dakota for erosion feasibility study
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, will hold an open house on Thursday, April 26 from 5 to 7p.m. at the Oacoma Community Center, 100 E. 3rd Street in Oacoma, SD to seek comments on potential opportunities to address erosion that is threatening the town of Lower Brule. There will be a brief, formal presentation at 5:30 p.m.

Crest Road Closed Due to Blizzard
Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, S.D., will close at 2 p.m.on Friday, April 13 due to the impending blizzard. The road will remain closed until conditions improve. Blowing and drifting snow makes travel across the Crest Road extremely hazardous. It is recommended that all travelers use the Discovery Bridge on Highway 81.

The public is welcome to use vehicles on the shoreline of 11 designated areas around Lake Sakakawea for recreational use this year.
