  • Cottonwood Campground closes for season Oct. 17

    Cottonwood Campground, on the north side of the Missouri River just below Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, will close for the season on Monday, October 17 and will remain closed until April 20, 2017.
  • Public meeting scheduled on Randolph, Nebraska flood risk management feasibility study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in cooperation with the city of Randolph, will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 5:30-8p.m. at the City Auditorium, 119 North Main Street in Randolph, Nebraska. The purpose of the meeting is to provide an update on a flood risk management study and gather input on the draft feasibility report and integrated environmental assessment. Comments on the draft report must be received or postmarked by October 12, 2016.
  • Gavins Point Dam road closed Tuesday, Sept. 13

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, will be closed from 8 a.m. through 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13 to conduct maintenance at the power plant. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.
  • Public meetings scheduled to discuss Cherry Creek Dam studies

    Three public meetings to provide an update on the status of two studies taking place at Cherry Creek Dam are scheduled for the week of September 20. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host meetings to provide a status update on alternatives under consideration to address risks from extreme storm events associated with Cherry Creek Dam including a study to modify the dam’s water control plan.
  • Vegetation control set for Missouri River sandbars between Pickstown, SD and Ponca, NE

    During September, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct vegetation management activities on sandbars in the Missouri River between Pickstown, SD and Ponca, NE. Approximately 1,500 acres have been identified for treatment in 2016 by a team of federal and state representatives. This work is being done to keep the sandbars free of vegetation and usable by the endangered interior least tern and threatened piping plover for nesting.
  • Gavins Point Dam crest road closure changed to August 23-26

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, SD, will be closed from 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23 through 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26 to repave the roadway. This closure will include nighttime hours. The public is asked to plan on an alternate route of travel during this time.
  • Update for pending Northern Integrated Supply Project Final EIS

    The Omaha District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will accept public comments on the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP) Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), which is due to be released in 2017.
  • Gavins Point power plant tours cancelled Aug. 19 - Sept. 2

    Tours of the Gavins Point power plant will not be offered from Friday, Aug. 19 through Friday, Sept. 2. Tours will resume in time for Labor Day weekend.
  • Gavins Point Dam crest road to close next week

    Crest Road, the road that crosses the Gavins Point Dam will be closed August 15-24 for repaving. Traffic will be allowed across the dam via the toe road and ramp road August 15-22. All roads across the dam will be closed to traffic August 23 and 24.
  • Public meeting scheduled on Cottonwood Springs Lake and Cold Brook Lake draft Master Plan

    The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting on Thursday, Aug. 18 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a brief presentation at 6:15 p.m. at the Mueller Civic Center Annex room, 801 South 6th Street, Hot Springs, South Dakota 57747. The purpose of the meeting is to gather input on the Draft Master Plan revision and associated environmental assessment.
